Biological Abstraction – Black and White Scratchboard Art is an original artwork exploring contrast, pressure, and precision in monochrome form.

Created on white cardboard coated with a black layer, the surface is meticulously incised to reveal the luminous white beneath. Each line is carved by hand, allowing organic structures to emerge from darkness — forms inspired by microscopic illustrations found in vintage biology textbooks.

This first scratchboard experiment required working with black-coated cardboard instead of professional scratchboard paper, demanding greater physical pressure. The result is a surface charged with tension, resistance, and tactile presence.

Framed in a deep shadow frame (23 × 28 × 6 cm), the piece gains sculptural depth and architectural clarity. The black-and-white palette enhances its minimalist impact, making it ideal for contemporary interiors, modern collectors, and refined wall compositions.

The artwork is presented without glass, intentionally left open due to the depth of the frame. This allows the surface to breathe and enhances the tactile presence of the scratchboard texture, creating a more direct and immersive viewing experience.
